When is it Time to Call in a Pest Control Management Specialist?

Calling in a pest management specialist may seem like an extreme measure.  But the truth is most homeowners are not prepared to take on the onslaught of pests when an infestation occurs. Whether it is rats, gophers, squirrels, birds, ants, moles, or another kind of rodent, when these pests show up, like most homeowners, you could be in way over your head.

One of the first problems is identifying the problem animal. Ants are easy to identify, and so are birds, but there are many different types of rodents and they are not all affected by the same elimination tactics. Therefore, unless you know exactly what you are up against, your own efforts are likely to be useless in battling pest infestations.

It is literally impossible to completely eradicate a pest, only because they live everywhere. The best you can do is to get rid of them as soon as they appear and employ a pest management specialist to regularly come and treat your property. Considering the amount of damage an unchecked infestation can do, in addition to the health hazard, it’s a great investment. Not only will the pest management specialist know exactly what kind of animal you’re dealing with, they’ll know the exact method of control needed to keep your property free from future visits.

Choosing the right company for you will depend on the type of infestation and how advanced it has become.  Make sure to read over any contract presented, and if you do not agree with the terms, talk it over with your pest management specialist. If they do not present the terms or services with which you are comfortable, it is best not to sign that contract and contact another company. You want someone who is willing to work within your budget and terms that are comfortable for you.

Property treatments can be as often as once a month or as little as once a year. Again, a lot depends on what kind of problem you are dealing with and how bad it is. An occasional visit from a pest management specialist is well worth the expense when you compare it to replacing foundations, walls, or wires. Even plumbing can be affected by a pest infestation.

A pest infestation can wreak devastating financial damage to your home, and it can compromise the health of you and your family. To add even more pain, many homeowner insurance companies won’t cover the damage, so it all comes out of your pocket. An investment in a pest management specialist can literally save you thousands of dollars in repair and in health care costs.
