As colder weather approaches so do the roof rats. Where does the Roof Rat get its name from? Quite simple... Roof Rats can generally be found gaining access to your home from the roof! Generally these rodents can either crawl up stucco walls to your roof or they can gain access from the tree limbs hanging over the roof of your home. Once these roof rats have gained access to the roof its only a matter of time before they begin gnawing and chewing their way into your attic. Attics are usually the perfect place for a roof rat to build a home. they are protected from the elements (wind, rain, sun) and from predators. Attic insulation also provides a great opportunity to nest and birth baby rats! Baby roof rats are safely protected in the attic while the adult roof rats can search for food and water throughout the home or in trashcans or fruit trees outside.
